Listings that share test values across brands

117 of the 461 certified listings have reported identical test values in the ENERGY STAR list to a listing under another brand: the same rated current and the same standby, idle and partial-on readings. In 17 cases the same values appear under three or more brands, and the largest groups span five brands.

What the match covers

Each ENERGY STAR listing reports its rated current and three readings in watts: no-vehicle (standby), idle and partial-on, usually to two or three decimals. This site marks two listings as having reported identical test values in the ENERGY STAR list when they are under different brands and all four of those values match exactly. Partner names, model numbers, certification dates, cords and listed features can still differ.

The match says nothing about who designed or built a product, and this site does not draw that conclusion. The list does not state it, and the site records only what the file shows.

How often it happens

117 of the 461 listings have reported identical test values in the ENERGY STAR list to a listing under another brand: 104 Level 2 and 13 dual-input. They form 39 groups. 22 groups span two brands, 4 span three, 8 span four and 5 span five. In all, 52 brands have at least one such listing; Longhorn has the most (7), followed by HBE (6) and Joint (6).

How the matched listings compare with the rest

The 117 matched listings are not a random slice of the list. Their median standby draw is 4.27 W, against 3.49 W for the other 344 listings. By rating, 53 at 48 A, 21 at 80 A, 15 at 40 A and 13 at 16 A. 111 of the 117 are networked.

The groups are spread across 52 ENERGY STAR partners, the companies named as certifying each listing. A partner name can differ from the brand name on the listing.

What can still differ inside a group

Only the rated current and the three readings have to match. Within the 39 groups, 7 include listings with different standby allowances; the allowance is set per feature set. In 4 groups the listed cord length differs, and in 3 groups one listing is networked while another is not. These differences are shown on the pages where the groups appear.

Certification dates vary as well. In 14 groups every listing was certified on the same day; in 14 groups the certifications fall in different calendar years.

One group in detail

The first group in the table shows how a match looks in the file. Its 5 listings appear under EvoCharge, INTEGRA ENERGY, Lite-On, Loop and OpConnect. All of them are rated 32 A and report a standby draw of 3.48 W, an idle draw of 6.03 W and a partial-on reading of 3.53 W. They were certified between 2020 and 2023, by 5 different partners.

Two-brand groups are the most common kind, with 22 of the 39. In 12 of them, both brands have three or more listings on the file; in 7, one brand has three or more and the other one or two. The brand directory shows every listing under its brand, with a ≡ mark where a match exists.

How the site handles these listings

Listings with reported identical test values in the ENERGY STAR list are kept together as one group, so the same numbers never appear as separate near-duplicate pages. On rating and brand pages, each such listing carries a ≡ mark. Where a group earns its own page, the other brands' listings appear on that page with any values that differ, such as the allowance for a different feature set. One example is the Joint JNT-EVL009/48AC/01C/BK/RF/WF group, listed under IYILO and Joint.

Ranks are still computed per listing. When two listings share a value at the top or bottom of a rating group, the rank is written as a tie, for example “tied for the lowest standby draw”.

Why the values can be useful

For anyone comparing chargers on the ENERGY STAR data alone, reported identical test values in the ENERGY STAR list mean that the listings cannot be told apart on standby, idle or partial-on draw. Differences between them, if any, lie in fields the test does not measure. The brand directory lists every listing under its brand, and the notes on reading the data give the exact matching rule.

The groups change as listings are added or withdrawn. The counts above are for the file as of October 27, 2026.
